Community Medicine: Goals and Objectives    Rev. for 2023-2025  Academic year

  Complete assigned readings on topics pertinent to GTFC community and actively engage in discussion with preceptor.

  Experience some community resources available in our area (WIC, wound care clinic, visiting nurses, home visits, homeless medical clinic)

  Complete home visit requirement (minimum 2 HV during residency required.
  Understand health disparities and think about/develop strategies to mitigate/overcome.
  Understand social determinants of health and develop strategies to assess and address in your patient population.
  Gain insight into the opioid epidemic and options for drug abuse treatment. Be able to appropriately and safely prescribe opioids.
  Become familiar with public health websites such as CDC, KCMO Health Department, and WHO
